NOTICE: In accordance with recent United States laws, our jewelry is NOT intended for children under the age of 12. This jewelry contains small parts, including beads and Swarovski Crystals that may contain small amounts of lead, and could pose a choking hazard for children. Please use good judgement and common sense by not allowing an infant, toddler, or small child handle or play with this or any jewelry or small items. Always keep any hazardous items out of children's reach at all times and use proper precautions to safeguard them.
We use the best possible materials in our keepsakes: .925 Sterling Silver, solid 14K Gold, 14k 1/20 Gold Filled, genuine Gemstones, lead-free Pewter, jewelry grade Stainless Steel, color coated Aluminum and genuine Swarovski Crystal.
We recommend that you do NOT wear this jewelry 24/7. With nonstop wear, sterling silver is subject to work hardening and brittleness, which will cause it to break easier. With beaded bracelets, constant wear and water exposure will cause the beading wire to soften, fray, and break easier. We recommend that beaded bracelets be cleaned and restrung at least once per year to preserve the integrity and durability of the bracelet. We are happy to clean and polish your jewelry and restring your bracelets for a nominal fee, just email us for a price quote before mailing your My Forever Child jewelry back.
To extend the life of your jewelry, do NOT wear to bed, while washing dishes, in the shower, hot tub or pool. Remove bracelets before doing housework or labor intensive work. Chemicals in items such as perfume, hair spray, lotions, medications, sunscreens, and tanners may discolor and erode the surface of the metals. Jewelry should be the last thing you put on after getting ready. Gently wiping your jewelry each day after wearing with a jewelry polishing cloth made for silver will help to remove the day's dirt, oil, and oxidation. A little daily care of your jewelry will go a long way in keeping it looking good for years to come.
When not in use, it is recommended that you store your jewelry sealed in the jewelry zip bag that it arrived in. This keeps out air which leads to oxidation and tarnish in precious metals. Be careful that the sterling silver or gold charms do not touch crystals, necklace chains, or other jewelry, as this could scratch your keepsakes. Some regular care and cleaning is necessary to maintain the integrity and appearance of your jewelry pieces:
~14K Gold Filled- this is a material with a thick layer of genuine 14k gold fused with heat and pressure to the surface of a base metal. It is much more durable than gold plating. Gold Filled items may tarnish, but can be cleaned and cared for in the same manner as sterling silver, listed below.
~Sterling Silver- is a soft metal which can easily scratch. Take care not to have it touch other metals or stones that will marr the surface. All of our jewelry is professionally machine polished at the time of manufacture. Then they are hand polished at least twice before leaving our studio. Sterling silver with a high polish will show polish lines and fine scratches easier than with a textured finish (matte, satin, sandblasted, hammered, etc.) But all silver has some surface scratches since it is a relatively soft material. This should not be considered a defect, but part of the nature of sterling silver. Through regular use, sterling will develop its own patina, which may dull the surface, instead of the high polish surface it came with. This is normal and to be expected.
When exposed to heat and humidity, and even sweat, sterling silver will oxidize faster and may turn very dark or dirty looking quickly. This is a common problem during hot weather and in humid climates and with pieces that lay directly on the skin, like necklace pendants and charms. You can clean your jewelry pieces by using a mild dishwashing liquid (such as Dawn), warm water, and a soft cotton cloth or baby toothbrush. After cleaning, rinsing with water, and drying your jewelry, tarnish can be removed by rubbing the piece with a jewelry polishing cloth made especially for silver. We highly recommend the Sunshine Polishing Cloth, sold in the Gift Wrapping category. We also suggest that you exhale some warm breath onto the piece, to fog it up, before rubbing with the polishing cloth. This really helps to bring out the luster! We do not recommend silver paste, tooth paste or liquid dip silver cleaner as these can be too harsh for jewelry and remove any oxidized patina. With regular care, cleaning and storage, sterling silver jewelry will last for years as a treasured keepsake.
A Note about Keychains:
Sterling Silver is a relatively soft material that WILL scratch and ding when in contact with harder materials, such as keys. This is normal and to be expected. If you prefer to use your keychain as a treasured keepsake only, please do not attach keys to the keyring. You can use the keychain for decorative purposes in a memory box, shadow box, jewelry box, around a car rear view mirror, or on a hook. Please take extra care to not have the keychain touch other keys, keychains, or jewelry that may scratch it.
~Swarovski Crystals- may be cleaned with a mild dishwashing soap, warm water, and soft cloth. Dry immediately to avoid water spots. Swarovski crystals are very hard and may scratch softer stones or metals. Crystals are made from glass and can break and shatter if struck on a hard surface. Take extra care to clean up and discard any broken crystals with a wet paper towel, and never touch broken crystals with bare hands. Swarovski crystals contain lead, see notice below:
~Leather- is a natural, animal-based product that may relax, stretch and fade over time. Leather bracelets and necklace chains should not be exposed to water.
~Stainless Steel Chains- can scratch softer Sterling Silver pendants. When not being worn, store your pendant not touching the stainless steel chain or any other jewelry or items, to prevent scratching. Ideally, place your sterling pendant in a small jewelry zip bag, without the chain touching it.
All of our personalized and engraved jewelry is crafted right in our own studio by a skilled engraving professional. Each piece is individually configured to ensure that your specific inscription is produced in the best way possible.
Please take note of the number of allowable characters (which includes spaces and punctuation) that can be engraved listed in the product description. In some cases we can compress the letters if the wording is a couple of characters over the specified limit.
We reserve the right to change the font and the layout you selected for the best possible fit on the piece.
Engraving Fonts Available:
Machine Engraved Block font in all capital letters. On larger pieces, it will be a filled double line block (first picture). On smaller pieces, it will be a single line block (second picture). The first letter in the word will be larger than the rest of the letters in the word (second picture), unless you type your personalization request in all capital letters (first picture).
Machine Engraved Single Line Cursive font in capital and lower case letters.
Machine Engraved Filled Roman font in capital and lower case letters.
Machine Engraved Single Line Script font in capital and lower case letters.
Hand Stamped lettering in all capital letters, for a handcrafted artisan look. This style is only available on select items. Please note that the hand stamped lettering is not intended to look "perfect". Variations in letter placement, spacing, and depth of the letters are to be expected. This engraving is done with small steel alphabet tools and are hammered deeply into the silver, which is atop a steel block. The opposite side of the piece may have marr marks from the engraving process. Extra polishing is done to reduce the visibility of the marks.
Monograms are the classic way to personalize items. The initial of the first name is on the left, the initial of the last name is in the center in a larger size, and initial of the middle name is on the right. If you are doing a monogram of married couple, the initial of the husband's first name is on the left, the initial of the couple's last name is in the center in a larger size, and the initial of the wife's first name is on the right. We offer four beautiful Monogram styles: Interlocking Script, Roman, Circle Block, and Fancy Script.
We have several Monogram jewelry pieces. However If you wish to have a monogram on a jewelry piece that does not have the Monogram option (ex. on the back of a custom handprint-footprint pendant), please contact us with your request prior to placing your order. Monograms take up a large area of space on the piece, and may not be available on all our items.
~If you would like a HEART shaped icon, please use a pound symbol # in the engraving field, example: Always In My #
~If you would like a STAR shaped icon, please use an asterisk symbol * in the engraving field, example: My Little *
~Please note that the star and heart symbols will take up 2 character spaces when they are engraved. Please allow for this when entering your desired inscription as you place your order.
~We can engrave in other languages!
Please input the exact way the engraving should read in your online order and also in a separate email to confirm your special personalization.
*There is a $10 labor charge per item for engraving in these languages, your credit card will be charged the difference after your order is placed.

About our Engravables:
Sterling silver is a relatively soft metal which scratches easily during normal wear. Please note that sterling silver WILL scratch if it rubs against harder materials such as crystals, keys, stone and metal surfaces. This is normal and to be expected.
Each of our engraved items is polished a minimum of 4 different ways to reduce surface scratches. Some items may appear to have scratches or dings. These cannot be polished out, as they are part of the metal itself and enhance the character of the individual handcrafted piece. Sterling silver will take on a patina of it's own, developing numerous small scratches, with normal wear. Each of our engraved pieces is protectively wrapped to avoid damage during shipping.
